“Cool Things for Cool People” is a collection of garments and soft products designed to improve the clothing experience of the wearer or user; made with sustainable materials and practices such as upcycling, material reuse, and textile repair. The goal of this project is to provide empowering and comfortable products for individuals who have specific wants and needs. And to meet these needs without contributing to pollution caused by the fashion industry. Additionally, to bridge the gap between adaptive clothing and non adaptive clothing by building a brand with a customer base that is united by the aesthetic interest and not the physical or mental needs of the individual. This project was inspired by my passion to be more accommodating and inclusive. Through October 2022 to March 2023, I collected 23 anonymous responses to a research survey and conducted 3 personalized interviews. The results of which inspired the pieces you see here.
A huge thank you to the collaborators on this project!
